Day 1:
On arrival in Brisbane we will transfer you to your hotel, the Medina Executive; for a three night stay.

Day 2:
Join a Morning Sights and River Cruise Tour exploring this popular city,it also includes a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane.

Day 3:
At leisure to enjoy this great city.

Day 4:
Collect your rental car and head for the surf, sand and shopping of Surfers Paradise. With fantastic restaurants, bars and late night shopping seven days a week it is a great destination. Spend three nights at the Australis Sovereign Hotel in Central Surfers Paradise.

Days 5 & 6:
Free to explore the many sights of the coast, from the theme parks of Dreamworld, Movie World or Sea World to the delights of Fraser Island in a day, the choice is yours.

Day 7:
Travel inland from the heat of the coast to the beautiful hinterland. The cool, quiet rainforest of World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park is the perfect contrast with Surfers Paradise. Stay at O’Reilly’s renowned family owned guesthouse for two nights.

Day 8:
Relax in the cool environs of O’Reilly’s or explore the local arts and crafts shops of Mount Tambourine.

Day 9:
Departing the hinterland; head back down to Brisbane Airport for your onward travel. Alternatively extend your stay on the Sunshine Coast or Fraser Island.

The Sunshine Coast & Fraser Island

Day 1:
Arrive in Brisbane and collect your compact rental car, we recommend spending a few hours at the world famous Australia Zoo on the way to your first hotel, The Sebel Maroochydore. Surrounded by shops and restaurants this is an ideal introduction to the Sunshine Coast.

Days 2 & 3:
At leisure to relax, enjoy the swimming beach and the surrounding areas.

Day 4:
Leave Maroochydore and head north to Hervey Bay, leave the car and take the catamaran over to Fraser Island; the World Heritage-listed destination is the largest sand island in the world. Stay 3 nights at the Kingfisher Bay resort, a relaxed holiday haven.

Days 5 & 6:
We include a full day Fraser Island Tour to explore all that the island has to offer, enjoy the resort’s other activities on offer, the pool or even a spa treatment.

Day 7:
Take the catamaran back to Hervey Bay and head south to bustling Noosa, a beautiful beach resort, alive with boutiques, restaurants and accommodation. The Breakfree French Quarter is your home for the next 3 nights.

Days 8 & 9:
Explore the charms of the Noosa area, or head inland to the majestic hinterland, where charming towns like Montville and Mapleton vie for your attention.

Day 10:
Departing Noosa, head back south to Brisbane Airport for your onward travel. Alternatively extend your stay in Brisbane or down on the Gold Coast.

You can choose to dive, snorkel, or stay dry and explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver semi-sub or watch the fish feeding from Quicksilver's underwater observatory. Day 1:
Your adventure starts in Hervey Bay, the gateway to the World Heritage site of Fraser Island. Transfer by coach and launch to Kingfisher Bay Resort, its eco friendly design blends with the surrounding bush and wildlife.

Day 2:
Today the package includes a full day ranger guided 4WD tour of the world's largest sand island which includes a swim in one of the many freshwater lakes. The tour includes a buffet lunch and you may even get the chance to see the islands native dingoes in the wild.

Day 3:
After breakfast your tour concludes with return transfers back to Hervey Bay.

From Townsville to Cairns (TC3) - Tuesdays

Day 1:
Board your Coral Princess vessel at 12:30 at Breakwater Terminal for a 1:00pm departure. Cruise the Palm Group of Islands.

Day 2:
Be our guest on our exclusive Pelorus Island with its magnificent fringing reef, beach and rainforest. Enjoy a beach BBQ ashore. Cruise the spectacular Hinchinbrook Channel and the Family Group of Islands. Visit Dunk Island resort and enjoy a guided rainforest walk.

Day 3:
A full day is spent cruising the outer Great Barrier Reef. Experience excellent snorkelling, coral viewing and scuba diving at Nathan or Coates Reef. Overnight anchorage at Sudbury Reef lagoon.

Day 4:
Visit Thetford Reef for fish feeding and further time to enjoy snorkelling, coral viewing and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Arrive into Cairns at 1:30pm.

From Cairns to Townsville (CT3) - Saturdays

Day 1:
Board your Coral Princess vessel at 10:30am at Cairns Trinity Wharf for an 11.00am departure. Cruise the outer Greater Barrier Reef visiting Thetford Reef and Sudbury Cay for fish feeding, snorkelling, coral viewing and scuba diving.

Day 2:
Visit Coates or Nathan Reefs to further enjoy the Great Barrier Reef. Visit Dunk Island resort and enjoy a guided rainforest walk.

Day 3:
Cruise the Family Group of Islands, (the only tropical rainforest island on the Australian coast) Hinchinbrook Channel and be our guest at exclusive Pelorus Island with its magnificent fringing reef, beach and rainforest. Enjoy a Beach BBQ. Cruise the Palm Group of Islands.

Day 4:
Cruise Halifax Bay, passing Magnetic Island, arriving in Townsville at 10:00am.

Itinerary includes:

  • All meals, including morning and afternoon teas
  • Coral viewing, presentations and reef fishing
  • Introductory scuba diving experience for first time divers

Facilities:

Day 1:
On arrival at Cairns you will be transferred to your chosen hotel for the next three nights.

Day 2:
Today join the famous Quicksilver Outer Barrier Reef cruise. A sleek catamaran speeds across the Coral Sea to a pontoon moored on Agincourt Reef. A host of activities and a buffet lunch are served on board.

Day 3:
An early start as you are collected from your hotel and driven up to the Atherton Tablelands for an unforgettable 30 minute hot air balloon flight. Your ballooning is followed by breakfast and you arrive back in Port Douglas at about ten o?clock. Rest of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the pool or the beach.

Day 4:
We will transfer you back to Cairns for your onward flights. Or why not extend your stay?

4WD Rainforest Experience

Your tour starts as you climb Lake Morris Road, only a few minutes from Cairns itself. Stop for a panoramic view of the city and Coral Sea, before continuing through lush tropical rainforest on Lake Morris for a break in picturesque surroundings. Relax over a cup of tea or cappuccino accompanied by a selection of delicious treats. Leaving the Dam behind, we engage 4 wheel drive to tackle the Closey River Road. This narrow track winds through pristine World Heritage rugged terrain.

Visit giant strangler fig trees and strange termite mounds. Your experienced driver/guide will introduce small groups to the mysteries of the rainforest, during an exciting and unforgettable day.

NB: Heavy downpours of rain may result in no access to this 4WD track for periods of time. In these incidents, Down Under Tours has prepared an alternative itinerary, to ensure that you have a unique nature based 4WD touring experience. Prior advice of itinerary change may not be possible.

Discover the unique rainforest and wilderness area of Cape Tribulation and the Daintree National Park in style. From viewing platforms, observe the diversity of wildlife and plants that live in such an environment. Cruise up the Daintree River, spotting crocodiles and other wildlife, before a tropical buffet lunch at the Coconut Beach Resort. Afterwards visit Cape Tribulation beach before heading back to Cairns.

Kuranda Scenic Railway

Departing from your hotel for Freshwater Railway Station where you board the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway, passing spectacular viewpoints and waterfalls as the train climbs up to the pretty village of Kuranda. Explore this village in the rainforest with its colourful market until it is time to board the Skyrail cable car. Glide over the rainforest canopies with opportunities to stop, before an enthralling afternoon at the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park with lunch provided.
